ABOUT US
YOUNG GOOMBAY ADVENTURERS
Young Goombay Adventurers is a non-profit outdoor educational organization that focuses on the needs of African-American youths between the ages of 8-17 in the Washington, D.C., area. Through outdoor adventure programs, field trips and adult mentoring, Young Goombay Adventurers aims to enhance the physical, mental and social well being of its participants.

Our primary mission is to:
  1. build self esteem, confidence and teamwork;
  2. expose youths to nontraditional outdoor adventures;
  3. teach youths to appreciate nature and understand the balance between humans and our environment; and
  4. provide a group through which youths can interact and learn from strong male and female role models.
We provide carefully designed and rewarding activities in a fun yet safe environment. Each adventure will begin with instructional courses, emphasizing the fundamentals of safety, technique, and environmental awareness. At the completion of each adventure, our staff will dialogue with the participants to discuss what they have learned and how they can use it in everyday life. The staff of YGA is committed to ensuring that our activities are abundant with excitement and challenges that will leave its participants with a sense of accomplishment and pride.
