The following list of equipment is to aid you in your selection of equipment to bring. Everything on this list is not mandatory, only the items with the asterisk (*) beside it are essential.  Please use this list only as a guide only for what to bring on a weekend camping trip.

BEFORE LEAVING HOME :
  • Leave trip itinerary with a friend and family member. Include a copy of the trail map with route highlighted. Times of arrivals and departures and phone numbers to other campers in your party
  • Check the weather channel for upcoming weather conditions.
  • Check park weather and condition hotline for park closings.
  • Check your vehicles tire pressure, oil, jumper cables, spare tire and jack tools. Make sure you have plenty of gas for both going and coming. Pack extra clothes and get a good road map of the area you will be traveling in.
  • At the trail head, make sure your car is locked and everything is turned off. Put a spare key in a magnetic key box under the wheel well of your car.
  • If you're going into an area that is not traveled often, bring a chainsaw or regular wood saw in case of fallen trees or limbs in the road.
