| BEFORE LEAVING HOME : |
- Leave trip itinerary with a friend and family member. Include a copy of the trail map with route highlighted. Times of arrivals and departures and phone numbers to other campers in your party
- Check the weather channel for upcoming weather conditions.
- Check park weather and condition hotline for park closings.
- Check your vehicles tire pressure, oil, jumper cables, spare tire and jack tools. Make sure you have plenty of gas for both going and coming. Pack extra clothes and get a good road map of the area you will be traveling in.
- At the trail head, make sure your car is locked and everything is turned off. Put a spare key in a magnetic key box under the wheel well of your car.
- If you're going into an area that is not traveled often, bring a chainsaw or regular wood saw in case of fallen trees or limbs in the road.
